Lockerverse is staying true to its mission of empowering diverse creators and bringing culturally significant projects to the table.

On April 24, the Web3 platform announced that it has teamed up with Modern Mirror, a digital innovation company, to launch its first-ever digital collectible — CJ Stroud’s “CJ7 Collectible” — according to a press release shared with AfroTech.

The limited one-of-a-kind collectible is set to commemorate the 2022 Heisman Trophy finalist’s NFL Draft 2023 experience and his journey up to the pivotal moment.

“CJ is an incredible athlete, and we are honored to be able to showcase his talents in this unique and innovative way ahead of his life-changing opportunity alongside Modern Mirror,” Lockerverse co-founders Trey McDonald, James Carlos McFall, and Marcus Rance shared in the press release. “We are thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to own a piece of his legacy through this exclusive collectible.”

The upcoming drop comes on the heels of Stroud unlocking his digital community on Lockerverse, which gives his fans access to content, merchandise, and digital collectibles, the press release notes.

What’s more, Stroud’s collectible is activated through Modern Mirror’s experiential technology, the Avant-Garde Fitting System (AFS), and skillset.

“We’re building the world’s most influential roster of digital humans based on real people, and in doing so we have been fortunate that as CJ Stroud is about to step onto the biggest stage of his athletic career, he is also leading the way for others in his profession and entertainment industries on maximizing careers and proving that your Digital Self is boundless,” Nicole Reader, CEO of Modern Mirror, said. “It was inspiring for us to work with Lockerverse on the CJ7 Collectible – showing us what it means to unlock the next level of personalization in the digital realm.”

The CJ7 Collectible will be released and available for purchase the week of May 27 on Lockerverse.

As previously reported by AfroTech, along with Stroud, Lockerverse brought on Ohio State University’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba and other college athletes from Duke University, UCLA, Baylor University, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Texas to participate on the platform. The goal is to empower athletes by helping them receive royalties from assets sold on the blockchain.
